Phylis Asson Craig Class of 1940
Phyllis Asson Craig was born October, 1922 Asson she was the youngest of 3 children. Phyllis attended the Bordentown school district graduating from William MacFarland High School in June 1940. While in high school she was involved in many clubs and activities thereby nurturing many long lasting friendships during this time. Upon graduation Phyllis was hired as a secretary for the World War II draft board for the area of Bordentown, NJ. She then became a secretary for John A Roebling & Sons in Trenton, NJ. She married John Craig and traveled to many places in the United States due to John’s job. Upon returning to Bordentown she continued to raise her 3 daughters and again became an active member of the community. After her children were grown she once again joined the working world. She worked for the Bordentown Library Association for many years and for the Bordentown Cemetery Association for over 25 years as its Business Administrator. Throughout Phyllis’s lifetime she was a member of many organizations. She was very involved in helping to plan the many reunions of her class. She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Bordentown Historical Society, the AARP, the Bordentown Township Senior Citizens, the Visiting Nurses Association, the Officer’s Wives of the Lakes and Pines, a member of the board of managers for The Home for the Aged in Burlington, and a member of the board of trustees as well as secretary for the Bordentown Cemetery Association. Phyllis passed away July 1998. Her grandchildren were the love of her life.
