Mr. Deacon graduated from Bordentown High School with the Class of 1944.  Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946.
 
A graduate of the high school business education curriculum, Mr. Deacon established an early commitment to the field of banking and joined the Bordentown Banking Company following his Navy discharge.
 
He advanced from the position of clerk to that of president of the Bank of Mid-Jersey, while studying at Rider College, Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers, Columbia and Howard Universities.
 
Mr. Deacon has been a Trustee of the First Baptist Church, President of the Bordentown Rotary Club, President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Visiting Nurses Association, and Director, Coach, and Treasurer of the Bordentown Little League.
